Acupuncture: 1st Appointment

The first step toward better balance.

Service Description

Clinic in Otford

Your first acupuncture session is a thorough and personalised introduction to treatment. The appointment begins with an in-depth consultation where we discuss your health history, lifestyle, and current concerns. Traditional diagnostic methods such as pulse and tongue assessment may also be used to build a clear picture of your overall wellbeing.

Once your treatment plan is agreed, very fine, sterile needles are gently inserted into specific points on the body. Most people experience little or no discomfort and find the process deeply calming. The needles usually remain in place for 20–30 minutes, giving you time to rest and unwind, many clients even drift off to sleep.

At the end of your session, we will review how you felt and discuss a plan for ongoing treatment and any simple self-care you can do at home.

How to prepare for your appointment:
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing so acupuncture points can be easily reached

  • Eat a light snack 1–2 hours beforehand (not on an empty stomach)

  • Drink some water before and after your treatment

  • Allow yourself a little quiet time afterwards to make the most of the benefits

After your session, you may feel:
  • Relaxed, calm and rebalanced

  • Improvements in sleep, mood, or energy

  • Mild tiredness or slight tenderness at needle sites (this is normal and short-lived)
